Teen To Brownback: You Suck!

This is truly hilarious!    Teen refuses to apologize for speaking her mind.  Governor "blows a lot."

Last week, during a Kansas Youth in Government field trip, Sullivan watched Gov. Sam Brownback speak. Unmoved, she cavalierly tweeted to her roughly 65 followers, “Just made mean comments at gov. brownback and told him he sucked, in person #heblowsalot.” A teenager tweeting that her governor “sucks” and “blows” – “a lot”? Sounds like grounds for an incident of national proportions!
Sure enough, Brownback’s office – the Thin Skin Division — noted Sullivan’s tweet, and contacted Youth in Government. As Sherriene Jones-Sontag, Brownback’s communications director, explained to the Kansas City Star,  “That wasn’t respectful. In order to really have a constructive dialogue, there has to be mutual respect.” She added, “It was important for the organization to be aware of the comments their students were making.” . . .

In retrospect, it’s pretty funny that Jones-Sontag proclaimed last week that “It’s important for students to recognize the power of social media, how lasting it is. It is on the Internet.” It sure is, communications directors and school principals. Sullivan, who says she was “just joking with friends,” has seen her Twitter following swell to over 7,000 followers. And a petulant outburst has now become a full blown news story.

Ya know?  Anyone with half a brain would readily acknowledge that Brownback does indeed suck!

No Enthusiasm For Presidential Choices

  We really have an enthusiasm gap when it comes to who we vote for in the 2012 presidential race.  GOPers really don't like Mitt and Dems will hold their noses and vote for Obama.    Is this the best we can do?

President Obama will be supported by progressives and the Democratic base, but without enthusiasm. His notorious caves to Republicans and Wall Street — failing to put conditions on the Street’s bailout (such as demanding the Street help stranded home owners), or to resurrect Glass-Steagall, or include a public option in health care, or assert his constitutional responsibility to raise the debt limit, or protect Medicare and Social Security, or push for cap-and-trade, or close Guantanamo, or, in general, confront the regressive Republican nay-sayers and do-nothings with toughness rather than begin negotiations by giving them much of what they want — are not the stuff that stirs a passionate following.
Mitt Romney will surely be the Republican presidential candidate — and Romney inspires as little enthusiasm among Republicans as Obama does among Democrats. The GOP will support Romney because, frankly, he’s the only major Republican primary candidate who does not appear to the broader public to be nuts.

We haven't seen a bar set this low since Carter.

Ditch Mitch Will Not Allow New Taxes On Rich, Obama Re-election

This is how the not so Super Committee Made an epic fail

Failure was not an option, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., had said of the super committee charged with finding at least $1.2 trillion in cuts to reduce the federal deficit over the next 10 years.

Well, failure was not only an option, but now it is reality.

The super committee is done, and it has produced no plan, no proposal, no outline, no suggestions, no guideline, no notions for reducing the deficit.

The 12-member bipartisan super panel was helpless before the [GOP] kryptonite of taxes, an issue that lawmakers could not solve. Republicans did not want them to increase without offsetting reductions in entitlements like Medicare and Medicaid, while Democrats saw tax increases as essential but resisted major changes to entitlements

Ditch Mitch himself is not an option for KY voters.  He's not only really, really bad for KY--he's super bad for the country.  Top.01% tax cuts are more important to him than helping our poor, uneducated state. 

Wall $t. Plans Oppo Research On OWS And Sympathizers

These greedy clowns just never give it a rest.  To them, money can solve any pesky problem

A well-known Washington lobbying firm with links to the financial industry has proposed an $850,000 plan to take on Occupy Wall Street and politicians who might express sympathy for the protests, according to a memo obtained by the MSNBC program “Up w/ Chris Hayes.”

The proposal was written on the letterhead of the lobbying firm Clark Lytle Geduldig & Cranford and addressed to one of CLGC’s clients, the American Bankers Association.

CLGC’s memo proposes that the ABA pay CLGC $850,000 to conduct “opposition research” on Occupy Wall Street in order to construct “negative narratives” about the protests and allied politicians. The memo also asserts that Democratic victories in 2012 would be detrimental for Wall Street and targets specific races in which it says Wall Street would benefit by electing Republicans instead.

According to the memo, if Democrats embrace OWS, “This would mean more than just short-term political discomfort for Wall Street. … It has the potential to have very long-lasting political, policy and financial impacts on the companies in the center of the bullseye.”

Politicians can be bought on the cheap.  Why not pay them directly to get what you want?  It's worked out pretty well for you so far.

The Occupation Of Louisville Continues

I'm proud of our Metro Council for offering a permit to OL so they can legally camp outside and have access to bathrooms.   Bravo!

The tents that make up the Occupy Louisville encampment strained against their stakes on a recent afternoon as a warm wind whipped through Founders Square. About 20 tents dotted the small park along Muhammad Ali Boulevard between Fifth Street and Armory Place. On one of them, someone had written “99% broke” in permanent marker.Louisville’s Occupy protest, which began Oct. 4, is one of dozens of similar encampments across the country that have sprung up since demonstrations began near Wall Street in New York on Sept. 17. But even as a wave of police actions this week cleared protest sites in such cities as Oakland, Calif., and New York, Occupy Louisville remains undisturbed.

The absurd level of police presence around the country is embarrassing.  Many YouTubes and network TV shots of cops pepper spraying, punching in the face, etc. unprovoked by protesters, prove that the main source of violence at these peaceful protests come from the cops.  And what's up with all the para-military gear like body armor and assault weapons?  It's a ridiculous over-reaction.

OWS Not Fond Of Obama

I guess I'm not the only one who doesn't care for Republican Light

In an interview with Salon following a conference call announcing the endorsement, SEIU president Mary Kay Henry stressed the union will not try to enlist occupiers as ground troops for Obama’s reelection — but SEIU also plans to stay involved with the Occupy movement into 2012.
In the six weeks I’ve been covering the movement in New York, the vast majority of protesters I’ve encountered are fed up with two-party politics; feelings about Obama range from indifference to disappointment to deep resentment. Pro-Obama signs occasionally appear at Zuccotti Park, but they are exceedingly rare. I asked Henry if, given occupiers’ views about Obama, she has trouble reconciling SEIU’s support for Obama and Occupy.
“Not at all,” she said. “I think what Occupy Wall Street has done for us is [to] help define the problem, shine a light on the inequality. I think our obligation as SEIU is to make the case to our members and the broader public about how that problem gets solved.” One of those ways, Henry said, is getting involved in electoral politics by endorsing Obama.

People feel sold out by all of our politicians, as they should.  The only way to fix this situation is to get money out of the Mafia political system or buy them off ourselves.

Rove's Freak Out

 Heh heh heh.  Rove can dish it out but he can't take it.

Last night, former Bush official Karl Rove appeared at Johns Hopkins University to speak as a part of the annual Milton S. Eisenhower Symposium. Rove soon discovered that he wasn’t going to deliver his right-wing rhetoric unopposed, as a cry of “Mic Check!” rang out among the audience. “Karl Rove is the architect of Occupy Iraq, the architect of Occupy Afghanistan!” yelled the demonstrators. Occupy Baltimore had infiltrated the crowd and began chanting against Rove. “Who gave you the right to occupy America?” asked Rove to the protesters, apparently unaware of the Bill of Rights. As they repeated their slogan, “We are the 99 percent!” Rove petulantly responded, “No you’re not!” He snidely added, “You wanna keep jumping up and yelling that you’re the 99 percent? How presumptuous and arrogant can you think are!”

I hope he gets mic checked everywhere he goes.

It's about time judges start holding banksters accountable for their crimes.

The Bank of America lawyer laid down a patented rhetorical move heard in courts across America. Your Honor, this Orange County, N.Y., homeowner — a New York City police officer — didn’t make enough money to qualify for a mortgage modification. He didn’t send us the right documents.

Justice Catherine M. Bartlett of New York State Supreme Court cut off the lawyer. You, she said, are telling me lies.
“Bank of America got a bailout, and this is an outrage, how this man has been treated,” she said. “Hard-working, middle-class Americans are trying to make it, trying to refinance with your bank.”
Either bank officials show up in person, the justice said, or I’m going to order them “here in handcuffs.”
Rage has acquired a cleansing power. Patience as a virtue is a hard sell at the burnt end of a four-year economic collapse. Zuccotti Park shakes, rattles and rolls; television yakkers chat about inequality; and the federal judge Jed Rakoff all but heckled the Securities and Exchange Commission last week for going easy on Citigroup misbehavior.
